Nigeria’s opponents for the Russia 2018 World Cup qualifier, the Chipolopolo of Zambia, will spend a week in Ghana as part of preparation for their tight match with the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
Earlier reports confirmed that Zambia will spend two weeks in Spain for intensive training and preparation against high flying Super Eagles in Uyo, Akwa Ibom.
Camping in Spain according to the Football Association of Zambia is to help link with foreign based players as most of the selected players are based in Europe. Andrew Kamanga the FAZ President said
”So we will send them to Europe for two weeks. The players who have been playing CASAFA and CHAN will go first and then their colleagues will join them, then we will move into Ghana for a week then go into Nigeria to fight to win because we believe we have a chance to go to the world cup”.
The Zambian team is to spend one week in Ghana to acclimatize with the weather in Nigeria as Ghana and Nigeria both have similar weather conditions.
Zambia is currently second on the log behind Nigeria. A win for Zambia would see them match up to ten points apiece with Nigeria while a win for Nigeria would further increase chances of qualification and make the Russia 2018 world cup aspiration a reality.
Both Nations square it off October 7 in Uyo, Akwa Ibom.
