The summary of what Buhari said in his address to the Nation

In a speech which lasted six minutes, President Muhammadu Buhari addressed Nigerians today. This followed a statement from his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina who, over the weekend, stated that the President was expected to address the country in a national broadcast 7am on Monday.

There are some important things to note from President Muhammadu Buhari’s address to Nigerians today, after he had spent over one hundred days in the United Kingdom for medical vacation.

The President, who recalled hosting Late Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu in 2003, revealed that they both agreed on a united Nigeria, after discussing at length.

He noted that he had been abreast of events going on in the country, while on medical vacation.

The President, pointed out that Nigeria’s unity is not-negotiable, and every Nigerian has the right to live and operate business anywhere in the country without hindrance.

He agreed that every group has a grievance. He then called on such groups to air their views and work out a mode of co-existence

The President maintained that the Federal Government is going to reinforce and reinvigorate the fight against terrorists and criminals alongside ethnic violence fueled by political mischief makers.
