Telecommunications sector contributes N1.54trn to Nigeria’s GDP in second quarter – NCC

Nigeria Communications Commission has said that the telecommunications sector have contributed N1.54trn to the GDP of the country in the second quarter of 2017.

“We are very proud of the remarkable contributions the sector is making”

Prof Umar Danbatta, who is NCC’s Executive Vice Chairman, revealed this yesterday while addressing the chairperson of Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA), Madam Angelique Weeks.

Professor Umar mentioned that the figure was gotten from the recent Bureau of Statistics report on the economy.

“Even in the recent times when the whole economy was facing challenges, the sector has remained resilient and stable”

He expressed joy that the telecommunication’s sector contributed about 9.5% to the GDP in the second quarter of the year adding that the figure shows a 6.68% increase from the first quarter contribution of N1.45trn.
