D’ Tigers prevail over Lions of Cameroon

The D’Tigers of Nigeria is on point to retain the Afro Basketball championship title after conquering the Lions of Cameroon in Thursday’s quarter final encounter.

The DTigers topped up their game after losing the last group match to DR Congo.  The D’Tigers braced up to record the third victory in the competition as they beat Cameroon 106-91 points in the match.

D’Tigers dominated the game as they won three of the four quarters. They won the first quarter by 25-18 points while the second quarter was fierce as they won by 27-25 points. However the Cameroon team won the third quarter 27-23 points but the D’Tigers came blazing in the fourth quarter as they won by 31-21 points to wrap up the game.

Captain Ike Diogu gave a fine and impressive performance netting 28 points. The terrific three pointers Ikechukwu Nwamu netted 25 points while Bryant Mbamalu and Akin Akindele netted 22 and 13 points respectively.

Nigeria’s D’Tigers is the first team to net 100 points in the on-going competition.

Meanwhile, the Zambian National team Assistant Coach Liz Mills, has praised the Nigerian team for the impressive performances in this year’s competition.

D’Tigers next face co-host Senegal in the semi-finals as they defeated Angola 66-57 points in the quarter final match, while Morocco face Tunisia in the other semi-final match.
