The management of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) has invited the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), and other Workers’ Unions in the University to a meeting.
The Union Workers’, had failed to resume after the Governing Council of LAUTECH gave a directive earlier to workers on resumption
Jacob Agboola, the Registrar of LAUTECH, hinted that issues relating to the reopening of the University would be discussed at the meeting
“The Vice Chancellor, Prof A. S. Gbadegesin, has directed me to invite you to a meeting with the management committee fixed for Monday September 18”
“The meeting will discuss issues related to the reopening of the university as contained in a recent circular. The slight delay in releasing the circular was inadvertent as it was occasioned by the pressure of work”
LAUTECH Joint Action Committee (JAC), which comprises of the Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (SSANU), National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT) and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Universities and Association Institutions (NASU) were also invited to the meeting by the management of the University.
Chairman, ASUU State Chapter LAUTECH, Dr Biodun Olaniran noted that lecturers did not resume despite the announcement of resumption by the Governing Council of the University because ASUU was not carried along
He also pointed out that the issues which forced them into the industrial action among others have not been addressed adding that lecturers were owed over 10 months arrears
The Union’s demands include:
- Earned Academic Allowances
- Pension and Gratuity
- National Health Insurance
- Condition of Service
- Promotion Arrears
- Budget Monitoring Committee
- Payment of Salaries and Arrears
