Federal Government distributes food items to seven liberated LGAs

The Federal Government has started giving out varieties of food items to over 40,000 households in seven liberated Local Government Areas of Adamawa State as the Director General, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mustapha Maihaja, flagged the distribution of food items to households in Gombi town, Gombi Local Government Area.

Maihaja, who was represented by the Head of Federal Government Food Distribution in Adamawa, Mr Slaku Lugard, said the scheme was aimed at alleviating the sufferings of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and its host communities.

“The development is part of Federal Government’s Door to Door Food intervention Scheme to the IDPs host communities in Adamawa”

NEMA Coordinator in charge of Adamawa and Taraba, Bashir Garga, listed the recipient communities as Gombi, Hong, Maiha, Mubi South, Mubi North, Michika and Madagali Local Government Areas.

“Among the items distributed include one bag of soyabeans, millet, maize flour, two bags of semovita and masavita to each house holds for the duration of one month”

The District Head of Gombi, Alhaji Shuaibu Barde, who appealed to beneficiaries not to sell the commodities, appreciated the Federal Government for the gesture, adding that the intervention would go a long way in relieving hardships faced by the communities.
