He is an Atheist, he kills 26 persons but he is not a terrorist.

Devin Patrick Kelley, the Atheist, who opened fire killing 26 people in the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, Texas, has not been “labeled” as a terrorist.

Kelley, 26, was a former Air Force operative, who was court-martialled in 2012 and sentenced to Prison for assaulting his wife and child. He was later discharged from the Force for bad conduct in 2014.

The shooter is yet to be called a terrorist because he has no religion with the President of the United States of America, Donald Trump saying he has a “mental health problem.”

According to Dictionary.com, an atheist is someone who does not believe in God or any deity. It is the absence of belief in any existence of gods.

Terrorism is also defined as the use of intentionally indiscriminate violence as a means of terror or fear, to achieve a political, religious or ideological aim.

The US code of Federal Regulations also defines terrorism as “the unlawful use of force and violence against persons or property to intimidate or coerce a government, the civilian population, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives.”

These definitions revealed that death and violence are not the only aims as there is also political or ideological motive.

Kelley was considered a strong atheist, as his Facebook profile which has been deleted shows him to be a member of various atheist groups.

He was not tagged a terrorist because, he does not belong to any religion unlike Sayfullo Saipov, who killed eight people and injured 11 in Manhattan, New York last Month.

In the case of Saipov, he left a note after the attack, pledging allegiance to ISIS and investigation revealed by authorities claimed he has been planning the attack for years while Kelley had a history of domestic violence against wife, child, and mother-in-law who attends the church.

This is seen by many that when a crime is committed by Muslims, it is swiftly tagged “a terrorist attack” but when done by others of contrary belief, it is Hate Crime.

Even the President is quick to react to a crime as terrorism once the perpetrator is a Muslim show that defining terrorism is not by legal means but politics.
