Heavyweight Champion, Anthony Joshua, has been awarded Boxer of the Year at the British Boxing Board of Control’s awards dinner in London.
The IBF and WBA Champion, having defended his IBF title against Eric Molina and WBA title against Wladamir Klitschko, was recognised for his achievements since August 2016.
Also in contention for the award were Tony Bellew, Terry Flanagan, George Groves, Kal Yafai and Lee Sebly.
Rob McCracken was award as Trainer of the Year. He saw Joshua through his victories in all bouts.
The bout between Joshua and Klitschko in which both boxers suffered knockdowns before Joshua won in the 11th round was named as Contest of the Year.
Errol Spence of America was awarded Overseas Boxer of the Year. He defeated Kell Brook in May to win the IBF Welterweight title.
Anthony Joshua defends both titles against Kubrat Pubev on October 28 at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff.
