1. Follow Traffic signals: one is expected to strictly pay attention, obey and follow the traffic lights.

3. Maintain a safe distance between your car and the one in front of you: Drivers are advised to keep a safe distance between themselves and the car ahead so as to have enough time to react if such car stops or make a sudden turn.

4. Reduce driving speed in raining and wet seasons: in less perfect weather like rainy, drivers should be extra careful, drive below speed limits and follow guidelines.

5. Watch out for other vehicles when trying to maneuver, turn or overtake: Drivers should understand that they share the road with other users, caution must be ensured.

6. Ensure all vehicle lights and indicators are working properly: Before hitting the road, do a test run and maintenance of your automobile.

7. Obey speed signs and limits: speed signs and limits are posted to maximize safety for drivers and individuals, stick to them.

8. Do not text and drive: Phones and gadgets should be kept away while driving, they cause distraction.

9. Do not drink and drive: Drivers should endeavor to avoid alcohol when on the wheels, it is also unacceptable to drive under its influence.

10. When feeling sleepy or dizzy, stop to take a rest or nap: You might think a few yawns are nothing to worry about, but just being a little drowsy is enough to increase your risk of getting in an accident.

11. Do not make or receive calls while driving and if you must do, ensure you are on hands-free (earphones).
