IPOB is spineless and its good news for Nigeria

It is now clear to many that the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has nothing up their sleeves following the threat to disrupt the recently concluded Anambra elections and President Muhammed Buhari visit to South-East, a threat that ended at just being threat.

The group had vowed to unleash terror if the President visits the region.

“Those who are hoping to welcome Buhari to Biafraland will suffer miserably. There will be no forgiveness.

“We will die with him should he set his foot on the sacred land of Biafra. He will not go back alive.”

Buhari later embarked on a two day visit to the region, first stop at Ebonyi State where he inaugurated the 14.5km Abakiliki-Afikpo Federal road, constructed by the Ebonyi Government, launched the 700-metre dual flyover over the Trans-Sahara route and the Sen. Offia Nwali flyover and also laying the foundation-stone for Ebonyi City Mall.

He was also conferred with a chieftaincy titles; Ochioha NdiIgbo 1 (Igbo Warrior), by the South East Traditional Council of Rulers and also the Enyioma 1of Ebonyi (A good Friend), by the Ebonyi Traditional Council of Rulers.

He then proceeded to Akwa, the Capital of Anambra State, where he campaigned for the All Progressive Congress (APC), Governorship candidate, Tony Nwoye and also ordered the reinstatement of Willie Obiano security aides.

The President’s two-day visit to the region was violence-free, with no reported case of protests or riots.

The November 18, election also came and went with no record of pre or post electoral violence, the aspirant from the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Willie Obiano, emerge winner.

Although, IPOB, urged the resident to boycott the elections, there were massive turnout of voters for the elections

Some have viewed these as signs that the IPOB is not as powerful as it would want the people to believe.

In September 2017, after the alleged raid of Kanu’s home by the Military, with the disappearance of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, the group gave the Federal Government seven days to produce its leader or face the consequence.

“We are giving the Federal Government and South East governors seven days to produce or tell us the condition of our leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. If he still alive, they should charge him to court because if anything happens to him, the South East governors should bear the consequences after the expiration of this notice, or they should hasten to build more prisons and acquire more weapons which they will use to kill more Biafrans.”

In October of the same year, Nnamdi Kanu was expected to appear in Court for violating the bail conditions, the group then threatened violence should its leader failed to show-up in the Court.

“One outcome is guaranteed in all this, should Nigeria not produce our leader in court on October 17, 2017, there will be inevitable confrontation on a scale the human mind cannot imagine, at a time and place of our choosing. By nature, we are peace loving people, Nigeria should stop provoking us into armed conflict. They should bring our leader to court.”
