Donald Trump Inspires new words in German dictionary

Duden Dictionary which is the German equivalent to the Oxford Dictionary have added about 5,000 new words including words like selfie, tablet, etc to the dictionary.

Kathrin Kunkel-Razum the Head of Editorial for the dictionary said that technological advancements and developments in the world today were considered before these new words were added. He also noted that a handful of words were also gotten from the administration of the current President of the United States Donald Trump. Not that “Covfefe”, the famous typographical error made by Trump, was included. Trump is known for words like “shrill, schlonged, bigly, xenophobia, trumpery, alt-right, rigged, braggadocio, temperament, hombre.”

Duden Dictionary was first published in the year 1880 while the last edition was published in 2003  with each containing 27,000 words and 145,000 words respectively.
