The claims and reports that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) is in support of the United States relocation of its embassy to Jerusalem are false, as authorities of the Kingdom have rejected the decision and also condemned the attacks on civilians by Israeli forces.
In December 2017, the United States had recognized Israel as the capital of Jerusalem, saying it would move its embassy there, a decision that received condemnations from the United Nations and majority Countries around the World.
The UN had adopted a voting system to which 128 Nations voted against the decision, with just nine Countries in favour, but that did not change the stance of Donald Trump, US President.
The decision is reported to have been one-sided as Jews, Christians and Muslims lay claim to the land as being part of their religion.
The Embassy was finally relocated to Jerusalem, but not without violence as reports claimed close to 60 protesters have been killed by Israeli forces.
The incident was reported as the “bloodiest day” since Gaza conflict in 2014.
According to Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, the soldiers were acting on self-defence by firing at the protesters.
“Every Country has an obligation to defend its borders. The Hamas terrorist organisation declares it intends to destroy Israel and sends thousands to breach the border fence in order to achieve this goal.
“We will continue to act with determination to protect our sovereignty and citizens.”
Following the ugly incidents, it was rumoured that Saudi Arabia is in support of US’ decision, with a fake news making the round that Crown Prince, Mohammad bin Salman had told the President of Palestine, Mahmoud Abass, that his Country would not get East Palestine as Capital.
He was alleged to have said: “Palestinians would not receive East Jerusalem as their Capital and Palestinian refugees and their descendants would not be allowed to (sic) occupied Palestine.”
The statements are untrue as the Kingdom had issued a contrary statement, rejecting US decision.
According to the Council of Ministers, the Kingdom rejects the American administration’s decision to transfer its Embassy to Jerusalem.
“This step represents a significant prejudice against the rights of the Palestinian people which have been guaranteed by international resolutions.
“The Government of Saudi Arabia has already warned of the grave consequences of such an unjustified move.”
The Statement by the Council proves the speeches credited to the Crown Prince as fake and malicious.
