These are the benefits, as FG approves enrolment of Corp Members with NHIS

The Federal Government of Nigeria has approved the enrolment of all serving Corp Members with the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

This was disclosed by the Director General of the National Youth Service Corp (NYSC), Sule Kazuaure, at the NYSC orientation camp in Ede, Osun State.

He explained that the approval by the Federal Government would enable serving Corp Members visit hospitals for treatment anytime they fall ill.

The DG further stated that the scheme was aimed at preventing avoidable deaths, hence the approval by the Federal Government.

“There is the need for you to be agents of change and make impact wherever you are posted to go for your primary assignments.

“The NYSC programme is all about integration of Nigeria and therefore, you must stay united; you must work as a team during the period of your service”.

The Osun State Coordinator of NYSC, Mr. Emmanuel Attah, commended Corp Members for contributing to the development of humanity.

“With the cooperation and determination of the members of staff, we have been able to make the camp habitable for corps members.

“I am grateful for the wonderful way the Batch A Stream One corps members in the camp have behaved; I am proud of them”.

Recall that in June 2017, at a Federal Executive meeting led by Prof Yemi Osinbajo, the Minister of Health, Prof Isaac Adewole, said the Federal Government would prevent unnecessary deaths among corp members across the Country.

“The Council approved the memo that henceforth we will include NYSC members in the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), across the country and this will guarantee access to quality healthcare across the country, prevent unnecessary deaths and also ensure that the NYSC members receive the highest (attainable) level of healthcare services across the country”.
