Jumia partners Dangote, record its highest Black Friday sales since inception

The Chief Executive Officer of Jumia Nigeria, Juliet Anammah, has announced Jumia’s partnership with Dangote Cement, stating that the cement can be bought on Jumia and delivered within Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt.

Anammah disclosed that the 2017 Black Friday sales attracted more than 14 million visits since the commencement of the campaign in November.

According to her, there was a 174% increase in items sold on the 2017 Jumia Black Friday, in comparison to items sold in 2016, adding that the figures recorded are the highest since its inception in 2013.

“We delivered to the 36 states across Nigeria, and we were able to reach the neighbourhoods and shoppers who traditionally do not have access to a wide variety of products and deals”.

Anammah pointed out that the 2017 edition reflected the increasing relevance of the special shopping period to the average Nigerian.

She further stated that the Black Friday festival was held in partnership with Intel, Pampers, Infinix, Philips, among others, describing it as the busiest and largest shopping day of the year on both online and offline stores.

85% of all visits were made via mobile devices, compared to 72% in 2016.

The Key Account Director, Dangote Cement, Mr. Chux Mogbolu, said Dangote Cement decided to work with Jumia Nigeria based on its credibility and excellent performance over the years, in online shopping management.

Mogbolu explained that Nigerians and Corporate Bodies wishing to purchase a minimum of 300 bags of 50kg Dangote Cement and above, can order on Jumia from the comfort of their homes, at a reasonable price of N2, 500 per bag.

While adding that the new initiative would help arrest the scams perpetrated by online fraudsters who deceived the people by asking them to come and purchase Dangote Cement for N1000 per bag, Mogbolu said the initiative would be extended to other cities, depending on the level of demand and performance of the new deal.

Other online Markerters like Konga, Jiji, Payporte, Kaymu, among others started having Black Friday sales after Jumia.
