Update: Edo Music Icon, Osayomore finally released

Edo Music veteran, Ambassador Osayomore Joseph, has finally regained freedom on Thursday, after being abducted for four weeks.

Osayomore, who was kidnapped on October 3 at Orovie Village, Upper Ekenwan, Egor Local Government Area of Edo State, while returning from the palace of the Oba of Benin, where he was said to have performed.

His son, Osayomore Jnr, who confirmed his released to the Press, saying the family is in joyous mood.

“My father has been released but he is not too healthy, so he is currently in the hospital taking treatment. It has not been easy for us as a family but we thank God he is back home. We are trying to give him the best medical care he deserves.

“So he is in the hospital now and it is our prayers that everything goes well, so he can rejoin his family in good health because we have really suffered all these while, it has been very traumatic for us and not a good situation that you can even pray for your enemy. We thank God he is home alive.¨

The abductors demanded N200 Million for his release but it is unclear whether it was paid.

This is happening after Edo State got a new Commissioner of Police, Johnson Babatunde Kokumo, who pledges to combat insecurity in the State.

The CP who spoke during his reception at the Government House, by Governor Obaseki had said that there will be no hiding place for criminals.

“I advise them to leave the state. Edo people and residents of the state should go to sleep with both eyes closed because there will be proper policing both in the day and at night.

“I want to assure you that Edo State will no longer be a haven for criminals.
