What it would mean if Iran shreds the 2015 Nuclear Deal, as it’s threatening to in response to Trump’s aggression

Iranian Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has threatened to shred the 2015 Iran Nuclear Deal Agreement, signed by Iran, the P5, Germany and the EU, if the United States pulls out.

This is coming after President Donald Trump refused certifying Iran of full compliance of the 2015 agreement.

Khamenei said Iran was determined to continue its ballistic missile program, adding that it is developing missiles solely for defensive purposes.

The move by the US President, has however been opposed by other parties to the accord, Britain, France, Germany, Russia, China and the European Union.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Supreme Leader, welcomed their support but says it was not sufficient, adding that Europe must stand against practical measures (taken) by the United States.

“They must avoid interfering in our defence programme

“They (Europeans) ask why Iran has missiles. Why do you have missiles yourselves? Why do you have Nuclear Weapons?

“We do not think it is acceptable for the Europeans to join America in its bullying”.

In a related development, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards (IRGC), said its ballistic missile program will expand and will continue with more speed, despite Trump’s hostile approach towards its Revolutionary Organization (the Guards).

“Imposing cruel sanctions against the Guards and hostile approach of the rogue and brute (U.S.) President shows the failure of America and the Zionist regime’s (Israel) wicked policies in the region”.

Things to know about the 2015 Iran Nuclear Deal Program

The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, (JCPOA), also known as Iran Nuclear Deal, is an International Agreement on the Nuclear Program of Iran, reached in Vienna on July 14, 2015, between Iran and the five permanent Members of the UN, Germany and the EU. The agreement reached is as follows:

1) Iran will reduce the number of installed centrifuges from 19,000 to 6,104 with only 5,060 allowed to enrich uranium for 10 years.

2) Iran will not enrich uranium above 3.67% purity (suitable for civil use and Nuclear Power generation only).

3)The Country will reduce stockpiling of enriched uranium from the current 10,000 to not more than 300 kilograms (3.67% enrich uranium for 15 years).

4) Iran’s Fordo uranium enrichment facility will operate not more than 1,000 centrifuges for research, 5,000 R-1 centrifuges will be running at Natanz, the remaining 13,000 centrifuges will be used as spare, when needed.

5) The Nation’s Arak facility will be modified, so as to produce a minimal amount of plutonium that will remain a heavy-water reactor.

6) Iran must allow the inspection of all its nuclear facilities and its supply chains such as uranium mining sites.

And in turn, all signatories to the agreement will do the following:

1) Lift all sanctions within 4 to 12 months of a final accord.

2) Develop a mechanism to restore old sanctions if Iran fails to comply as per IAEA reports and inspection.

3) The EU will remove energy and banking sanctions.

4) The United States will remove sanctions against domestic and foreign companies who do business with Iran.

5) All UN resolutions sanctioning Iran will be annulled.

6) All UN-related sanctions will be dismantled.
