“Madmen and Specialists”: FRSC refers 4000 traffic offenders for psychiatric test

The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), in its bid to ensure sanity and safety on the road, referred 4,000 traffic offenders for psychological evaluation in the last three months.

The FCT Sector Commander, Mr. Ayuba Gora Wobin, made the declaration on a visit to the FCT Minister, Muhammed Musa Bello, in Abuja.

Mr. Wobin assured the residents of the Command’s commitment to the safety on road activities

“Since I assumed office in the FCT, I have observed the contributions of the administration to reducing road crashes and safeguarding the lives of the road users.

“These include the clearing of obstructions on roads, provisions of walkways and enforcement of the use of pedestrian bridges, amongst others.”

Wobin, who was recently deployed to the FCT, also appreciated the Minister for his interest and contributions to safety matters.

“Permit me to mention a few of the initiatives that have positively contributed to road safety in the FCT. These include; the pragmatic efforts of the Minister towards clearing obstructions on the roads, provision of walkways and enforcement of the use of the pedestrian bridges, as well as the prompt response of concerned FCT agencies to emergencies and others.”

The Minister also appreciates the Commander for his visit, saying the relationship between them is cordial.

Bello expressed gratitude over the enforcement of pedestrian bridges in the city, which he claimed, saved several lives

Statistics revealed that Abuja has the highest rate of accident with 430 recorded deaths between last year and the first six month of 2017.

Investigations by the International Centre for Investigative Reporting further revealed that 50% of the incidents are caused by non-functional traffic signals.
