The Mama-Putting of Zuckerberg: Facebook is now selling food

On the 13th of October, Facebook announced the launch of their food ordering service, available in the USA and designed to make it easier for people to order food from their favourite restaurants and eateries without having to logout of their Facebook.

The announcement which was published on Facebook newsroom by Alex Himel states that the point of ordering for food for takeout or delivery is supposed to be simple but has somehow become complicated. The statement stated that the company’s team is taking the time out of finding what you want to eat by officially launching the ability to order food for pick-up or delivery, directly on Facebook.

“People already go to Facebook to figure out what to eat by reading about nearby restaurants, and seeing what their friends say about them. So, we’re making it even easier.

“Facebook combines options from a number of food ordering services like EatStreet, Delivery.com, DoorDash, ChowNow and Olo, as well as restaurants like Jack in the Box, Five Guys, Papa John’s, and Panera, so you don’t have to search through multiple places to find what you’re looking for. From local spots to national chains, Facebook connects you with old favorites and new discoveries in just a few taps. You can even check out what your friends have to say about a restaurant before you order your food.”

According to the statement, the company has been testing the feature since last year and making modifications based on feedback and adding more partners to the service.

However, the service is only available to iOS, Android and Desktop users in the US as of now.
