The death of Davido’s close friends: Police recover drugs in car of singer’s late DJ

When Tagbo Umeike, friend to Nigerian based musician, David Adeleke, died, suspicions arose and fingers pointed at the singer as a primary or secondary culprit in the scandal. Reasons included the singers alleged nonchalance in handling the situation and the fact that he was among the last set of persons that the deceased was around before the incidence.

Reacting to the allegations, the singer took to his Instagram to commiserate with the family of the deceased and to also dispel the rumours as best as he could. He noted that it was sad that people would accuse him of something like that but did not give any detailed account on what truly transpired and the level of his involvement in the situation as a sign of respect for the memory of his late friend.

However, a friend of Tagbo’s family, Damilola Usman has revealed to newsmen that Tagbo passed out after taking shots of tequila. Usman reported that the family of the deceased was not willing to give out information at the moment because the Police was still carrying out investigations but he did let out information that the young man had been in company of himself, the musician and others in a joint referred to as Shisha Room and there had been a competition on Tequila shots, which is something normal with partying buddies.

“Each person had to take 10 shots of Tequila and after the competition, Tagbo passed out. Nobody took him to the hospital because everybody was high already. We did not know that it was something serious.

“I learnt they went to the beach later and I think he passed out at the beach again. His friends that accompanied him to the beach did not attend to him on time but eventually when they suspected that there was something wrong, they allegedly dropped him in front of the hospital with his car.”

Caroline Danjuma, who has revealed that the deceased was her boyfriend, has disclosed that she knew that Tagbo could not finish one glass of Hennessey because he had a “light brain” not to talk of finishing 10 shots of tequila. She also said that Tagbo could not have been motivated by money as he came from a rich home and money wasn’t necessarily his problem.

While this issue is still being investigated, another of Davido’s friend, Olugbenga Abiodun, aka DJ Olu and one Chime Amaechi who is said to be a crew member of the artiste have been found dead in a BMW car in a garage on Block B, Banana Island, Lagos. The 25 year old son of an oil magnate, Dapo Abiodun and his friend were found dead three days after the death of Tagbo Umeike.

Operatives from the Ikoyi Police Division received a distress call that two young men were lying lifeless in a car and a team raced to the scene. On getting there, the lifeless bodies of two adult males were found in the BMW car with registration number, KJA 631 AY.

“After making some inquiries, the victims were identified as Olugbenga Abiodun, 25. He lived on Block 11 of the estate. The other victim, Chime Amaechi, was also aged 25,”

The Police team reportedly recovered substances suspected to be hard drugs from the car in which the boys were found and have commenced plans to identify the substance and determine the cause of their deaths.

These deaths are beginning to have ripple effects on the personality of the artiste as many people are already pointing fingers and make assumptions that the singer has a hand in the deaths.
