Former Kano State Governor, Ibrahim Shekarau, has said that he is opposed to restructuring that would lead to the disintegration of the country.
“I do not subscribe to the breakup of the country or the argument that the country’s unity is not negotiable, it is negotiable”.
The ex-Governor who was also a one-time Minister of Education opined that Nigeria’s unity is negotiable.
“Everything about Nigeria, except our break up is negotiable. We need to discuss how we govern ourselves, how we move the economy forward”.
He appealed to Nigerians to be patient with the current administration adding that some progress have been made compared to where we were previously.
“The entity called Nigeria is a product of negotiation. On the occasion so many Nigerians negotiated for a shift of date and it was discussed and accepted just as issues were put on the table. So the date of October 1 1060 was a negotiated date. For anybody to say that Nigeria’s unity is not negotiable, I do not subscribe to that”.
