Manchester City’s Aguero involved in car accident

Manchester City’s Striker, Sergio Aguero, was involved in a car accident in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

The Club confirmed that Aguero was one of two injured persons taken to the hospital when the accident occurred.

In a statement made by the Club, it said,

“Sergio Aguero will be accessed by club doctors today after been involved in a car accident on Thursday.

“The City forward was in Holland for his day off and has sustained injuries. He will return to Manchester this morning and his status will be checked ahead of Saturday’s Premier League clash at Chelsea.”

Aguero is reported to have fractured a rib after the taxi he was in hit a pillar. He was said to have attended his friend, Maluma’s, concert and was on his way to the airport at the time of the accident.

The accident comes while Argentina still struggles for a place in the Russia 2018 World Cup.

With Argentina having two crucial qualifier matches against Peru and Ecuador on October 5 and 10 respectively, the absence of Arguero could pose a great disadvantage.

The Manchester City’s forward has netted six goals in the Premier League and one in the Champions League.

Pep Guardiola side hope to take on Chelsea at Stanford Bridge on Saturday most likely without their top striker with a three point advantage over the Blues.

Manchester City has a herculean task with two of their top player out as Defender Benjamin Mendy have been ruled out with a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.

Sergio Aguero has received greetings from fans with his former Club Independiente posting a picture of him and Maluma with the words;

“Strength and prompt recovery. Everyone @Indepediente is with you in this difficult moment.”
