NFF announces 23-man squad for the Super Eagles match against Zambia

The Nigeria Football Federation has announce the 23-man squad for the Super Eagles in the Russia 2018 qualifier game against the Chipolopolo of Zambia.

Super Eagles captain, Mikel Obi, Alex Iwobi and Victor Moses are among a number of top players announced in the squad by the NFF. Some players from the Nigeria professional Football League were also invited for the match.

Others invited include; Ola Aina who plays for Hull City in England, Wilfred Ndidi of Leicester City, Anthony Nwakaeme of Hapoel Beer Sheva in Israel.

A win for Nigeria will see Gernot Rohr and his men qualifier for the Russia 2018 World Cup.

The full list of players invited;

Goalkeepers: Daniel Akpeyi (Chippa United, South Africa), Ikechukwu Ezenwa (FC Ifeanyi Ubah, Nigeria), Ayodele Ajiboye (Plateau United, Nigeria).

Defenders: William Ekong (Bursaspor FC, Turkey), Abdullahi Shehu (Anorthosis Famagusta, Cyprus), Leon Balogun (FSV Mainz 05, Germany), Elderson Echiejile (Sivasspor FC, Turkey), Uche Agbo (Standard Liege, Belgium), Chidozie Awaziem (Nantes FC, France), Olaoluwa Aina (Hull City, England).

Midfielders: John Mikel Obi (Tianji Teda, China), Ogenyi Onazi (Trabzonspor FC, Turkey), Wilfred Ndidi (Leceister City, England), Oghenekaro Etebo (CD Feirense, Portugal), John Ogu (Hapoel Beer Sheva, Israel), Mikel Agu (Bursaspor FC, Turkey).

Forwards: Ahmed Musa (Leceister City, England), Kelechi Iheanacho (Leicester City, England), Moses Simon (KAA Gent, Belgium), Alex Iwobi (Arsenal FC, England), Odion Ighalo (Chang Chun Yatai, China), Victor Moses (Chelsea FC, England), Anthony Nwakaeme (Hapoel Beer Sheva, Israel).

Standby: Dele Alampasu (Cesarense FC, Portugal), Tyronne Ebuehi (ADO Den Haag, Netherlands), Aaron Samuel (CSKA Moscow, Russia), Afeez Aremu (Akwa United), Ifeanyi Ifeanyi (Akwa United).

Players invited are expected to resume training in Uyo on Monday 2nd, October in preparation for the match.
