John Okafor to shoot a film on Xenophobia attacks in South Africa

Comic Nollywood Actor John Okafor, a.k.a Mr Ibu, announced his new Xenophobia inspired movie project which he intends to use in highlighting the evils of Xenophobic attacks in South Africa.

The Actor, while speaking concerning the project in Johannesburg last week, said that most of the actors would be from South Africa, while others would cut across Nigeria, Liberia ,Kenya, Ghana and Botswana.

He added that the movie script was being written, by some good writers, while the planning and pre-production had commenced.

“I have plans to shoot a film on xenophobia. I will use mainly South African actors who will work with others from Nigeria, Ghana, Liberia, Kenya and Botswana.

 

“What I want to achieve in the movie is to turn the table around and help in promoting peace on the long run”

 

He further said that the movie was going to be shot in South Africa, Kenya and Botswana locations.

“The pre-production is on now. The scripting is also on. When I return to Nigeria, we will meet with the Directors and Technical crew to discuss the effects of the plot. 

 

“When the plot impacts on our thinking, then we would have achieved something,” he said

 

Mr. Okafor said that the next stage of preparation would be to visit the concerned countries for the movie auditioning so as to detect those who are qualified to interpret the movie script. He added that the Nollywood movie industry was still evolving and would achieve it set targets.

Mr. Ibu further revealed that he had 300 movies to his credit, since he first came into acting in December, 1978.

The President of Nigeria Union in South Africa, Mr.Adetola Olubajo, said that the body would partner with John Okafor, on a social cohesion program.

“We are planning a program aimed at creating synergy and social cohesion between Nigeria and South Africa. It will take place next year and we want Okafor to be part of it”.
