Minister of Budget and National Planning, Senator Udoma Udo Udoma, has said the 23rd Nigerian Economic Summit (NES23) will hold from October 10 to October 12, 2017 at Transcorp Hilton, Abuja.
The Minister noted that the summit would adopt a solution based approach in addressing issues that will in turn tackle unemployment and improve productivity as well as expand opportunities.
“This is in line with the aspirations of the ERGP which aims at restoring and sustaining growth, investing in our people and building a globally competitive economy”.
This year’s theme is ‘Opportunities, Productivity and Employment: Actualizing the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan’
“the theme is also significant, given the need to sustain the imperatives of the ‘made in Nigeria’ agenda from NES22” Senator Udoma said.
“This is expected to enhance the effective implementation of ERGP and also translate to improvement in living standards of the citizen”.
He revealed plans by the Federal Government of Nigeria to implement measures, towards realizing a growth target of seven per cent by 2020.
“The implementation of the Economic Recovery Growth Plan, ERGP is critical to achieving the ambitious goals of this government to diversify the economy and attain a growth rate of seven per cent by 2020”
It would be recalled that the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP) was initially launched in April, by President Muhammadu Buhari, with the hope of it bringing the country out of economic recession.
