Both sides missed a chunk of chances with Arsenal enjoying much of the first half. Gunners nearly came through when Aaron Ramsey struck the wood work and Alexandre Lacazette fire the rebound over the post from a close range.
On several occasions, Arsenal defence had to absorb pressure from Chelsea’s attack. Willian had space to curl a shot at Cech who also foiled a one on one attempt at goal from Pedro.
The second half saw Conte bring in Eden Hazard who posed quite a threat for Cech. However, it was Arsenal’s sub Giroud who found the net after coming in for Welbeck only for the goal to be ruled out for offside.
Chelsea’s defender, David Luis got a straight red for a tough tackle on Sead Kolasinac in the 87th minute, marking the third straight match Chelsea has had a player sent off against Arsenal.
The Gunners have recorded just two wins in their first five matches this season. They remain six points behind Manchester City who occupy the first position.
Meanwhile, Arsenal fans have criticized Arsene Wenger for benching Alexis Sanchez and play maker Mesut Ozil.
