World Cup: More than 500,000 tickets sold on first day

The Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) has said that more than 500,000 tickets of Russia 2018 World Cup have been requested on the first day of sales.

In a statement by FIFA, fans from Russia made the highest request ‘’followed by Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, China, U.S.A, Columbia, Germany, and English counterparts’’.

More than 50,000 tickets have been sold for the World Cup final match which is for July 15 in the newly reconstructed Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow. A little fewer than 40,000 tickets have also been sold for the opening match which is to hold in the same stadium.

The World Cup ticket is sold on FIFA’s website. It is divided in two phases and a last minute sales.

In the current phase, tickets will be allocated through a random selection draw process, which will give fans an opportunity to secure individual match tickets for all matches starting from the first match down to the final, venue specific tickets series and team specific ticket series. The first phase ends October 12.

Owing to the high demand, to ensure that as many fans as possible scale through in the Random Selection draw process, FIFA has advised fans to observe the traffic light system indicating the demand for tickets when applying on FIFA.com.

The prizes for the tickets range between $105 for the cheapest seats at group stage games and $1100 for the most costly seats in the final match.

FIFA also said that tickets purchased during the current sales phase will be delivered for free to fans in the weeks leading to the tournament.

The delivery is scheduled to commence in April/May 2018.

The World Cup matches would be held in 11 Cities and 12 stadia. The opener will be in Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow. Others include; Zenit Arena in Petersburg, Samara Arena; Samara, Volgograd Arena; Volgograd and a host of others.
