Women should stop provoking their men -Actress Monalisa Chinda Coker

Nollywood Actress, Monalisa Chinda Coker, on Saturday 9 September gave her opinion on “domestic violence” while appearing on “The Other News” show, anchored by Ace Actor and Comedian, Okey Bakassi.

The 43 years old actress, who was once a victim of domestic violence leading to her first divorce, expressed how much she detested domestic violence. She also revealed how most women are the cause of half the cases of domestic violence because of the provocative ways alot of women use words which she considers inciting to men.

“As much as I detest all forms of violence against women, women should quit provoking their man into punches and slaps and all kind of things” She said

She further emphasized how words could be a trigger to violence saying

“I’m a domestic violence [Enthusiast]. I always research when I hear fresh stories about domestic violence. Half the time, it is the women who are the cause…God just gave us this running Okra mouth. Women, don’t fight with people who are stronger than you”

The Actress also talked on sexual harassment in the Nigeria movie industry. She said many women do not reveal or admit succumbing to sexual advances by some movie Producers in exchange for some roles in movies.

“It’s a bit uncomfortable for someone to come out and say I was cornered to sleep with a Producer because of a role. They keep quiet about it because of their Careers. Apart from that, the Society stigmatizes these Women. So you just swallow your Pride. When you are outside the Shores of Africa, Women are heroes for coming out to speak about sexual abuse, but here”
