Chinese Firm to invest in Economic crops and Structure in Enugu

The Enugu State Government has achieved a mileage in its effort to woo foreign investors to the State just as N300 million was presented to three communities, being Ogwofia Owa, Enugu Eke and Akama Oghe, by Lions Business Park Limited. The sum was a compensation for the economic crops and structures on the 2000 acres of land acquired by the company for the development of its industrial project in partnership with Chinese partners under the coordination of the company.

The Lions Business Park industrial project is a bold initiative of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi’s administration designed to create manufacturing and integrated industrial hub in Enugu State and the South East geopolitical zone at large and to facilitate Chinese manufacturers’ entry into the state to feed the Nigerian and African market through the existing sales channels of Onitsha and Aba in partnership with Nigerian business organizations.

While presenting the Cheque, the Governor, who was represented by his Deputy, Mrs Cecilia Ezeilo, stated that the project is in line with his administration effort to attract foreign investors to the state.

He disclosed that the Senate Executive Council has approved and signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the group of the Chinese partners for the establishment of the industrial market which will be known as Lions Business Park.

The Governor commended the company for the prompt fulfillment of the compensation aspect of the MOU and also expressed gratitude to the people of the three communities “for their wonderful understanding, partnership and cooperation in the entire process”.

He also took time to list the benefits the partnership will bring to the state adding that it will stimulate investment inflow in diverse sectors of the economy and create a huge value chain that will provide employment and bring together production and availability of “much needed goods and services”.

The Governor further urged the investors and partners to maintain the business-friendly environment that currently exists in the State, stressing that “Enugu state is ready and open for business”.

He thanked the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, members of the land Acquisition Committee and all those who worked together in ensuring a successful acquisition of the land as well as the enumeration and evaluation of the economic trees on it.
