US open: Juan Martin Del Potro stops Roger Federer

U.S crowd would have to wait longer for a Nadal-Federer debut after Federer crashed out of the U.S open to Juan Martin Del Potro.

Much of U.S open anticipated a first time meet between the two warlords Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer in a U.S open Grand slam but once again denied by Juan Martin Del Potro.

The Argentine defeated both Nadal and Federer in the 2009 US open and will have to do so to clinch the title again.

Roger Federer was chasing his 20th Grand slam title while Juan Martin Del Potro remains on course for his second major title.

The Argentine beat the Swiss 7-5 3-6 6-7 6-4 to advance into the last four of the competition. Del Potro has missed 14 of 36 Grand slams due to injuries and hopes to emerge winner of this year’s U.S open Grand Slam.

Del Potro had earlier defeated Dominic Thiem to set up a match with Federer. His next opponent is Rafael Nadal who conquered Rublev.
