41 Nigerians deported from 7 countries

Not less than forty-one Nigerians have been deported from seven Europeans countries for committing immigration related offences.

The deportees who arrived at the Murtala Muhammad International Airport, Lagos on Thursday were all deported from Australia, Switzerland, Hungary, Netherland, Germany, Norway and Denmark.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the deportees, comprising 35 males and 6 females, were flew into the Nigeria by Privilege Style Aircraft with the registration number EC-120 arrived at 10:50 am.

Confirming their arrival, the Spokesman for the Police Airport Command, DSP Joseph Alabi said

“we received 41 Nigerians who were brought from back from Europe. There were made up of 35 males and 6 females.”

All the deportees were alleged to have commit crimes relating to immigration in their host countries. He said.

Earlier in June, 23 Nigerians were deported from Spain for various criminal offences. Nine of them committed drug related offences that warrant their deportation. Barely 48 hours later, 28 Nigerians also sent packing by the UK government for immigration-related offences.

Also in June, 175 Nigerians were deported from Libya. Last month, 198 illegal citizens living in Saudi Arabia returned home on a chartered flight.

In the case of Saudi Arabia, the returnees were granted amnesty by the Saudi Authorities.

Reports have shown than in the last three months, more than 1,500 Nigerians have been deported for various crimes and offences. Some of the offences include human trafficking, smuggling of migrants and non-possession of valid travel documents, amongst others.
